Fathership
by Lee J. Colan, Ph.D.
This time last year I paid tribute to my late father and to excellence.
This year, as I reflect on the role of a father, it really embodies similar traits as an excellent leadersetting direction, providing boundaries, encouraging and getting the best from others, celebrating successes and supporting through challenges, and coaching to prepare people for the next level...the parallels just go on and on. So, I decided to call the act of being a dad, Fathership. Certainly, the Hall of Fame of Fathership includes Zig Ziglar. Aside from his endearing public image, I know Zig Ziglar was also a superb private father. That's why I asked Tom Ziglar to share with us what it was like to benefit from world class Fathership.
Dads, no doubt you are busy making a living for your family, but do not forget to invest the time to make a life for them also. To the world you might be just one person, but to your kids you are the world.
Happy Father's Day!
